Sohrab received a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2021. After graduating, he pursued postgraduate work at the University of Maine, Orono in both Mathematics and STEM Education. It was during this time that he made the shift to oceanography. In 2024 he moved to Western Australia and worked as a field technician in the Coastal and Offshore Research Laboratory (CORL), where he managed a network of wave buoys, as well as conducted drone and helicopter based coastal surveys. In 2026 Sohrab completed a Masters of Oceanography at the University of Western Australia; his thesis examined observations and predictions of wave orbital induced ripple migration and bed mobility off Floreat Beach, in Western Australia. Sohrab is excited to continue his graduate studies at ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ and will be investigating river-sea-ice interactions in the YK Delta. Outside of research Sohrab enjoys climbing, pack rafting, trail running, fly-fishing, knitting, farming and playing the banjo.

Sohrab is interested in the tidal dynamics of Western ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ. Specifically, he is interested in tidal interactions with riverine and estuarine systems and how these effects are modulated by the seasonal presence of sea ice.
