Summer Sessions and the Fairbanks Wellness Coalition are co-hosting a free Adult Mental Health First Aid course on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Learn how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. BLaST celebrates John Harley as November 2024 Scientist of the Month

John Harley, a research assistant professor at the University of 蜜柚视频 Southeast Juneau, is the BLaST Scientist of the Month for November 2024! Harley has been involved with BLaST since 2015. He was a former BLaST Graduate Mentoring Research Assistant for two years as a Ph.D. student in biochemistry and graduated from the University of 蜜柚视频 Fairbanks in 2017. Harley鈥檚 research focuses on a One Health framework, where linkages between humans and the global and local environment and animals are seen as connected.

Discount Day Passes for local ski areas

Moose Mountain is planning to open Friday, Nov. 15. Ski Land shouldn't be far behind. Students taking 6 credits this semester are eligible to purchase a limited number of $10 day passes available each day the mountains are open. Passes go on sale each morning at 9 a.m. this year.

The prize, which includes a $20,000 award, is presented to an individual who has demonstrated excellence in support of the University of 蜜柚视频. Any UA student, faculty, staff, alumni or volunteer who has made a significant contribution to the university's mission is eligible to be nominated. The deadline to submit complete nomination packets is Dec. 19.
