ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ making the switch to Canvas LMS

After a successful pilot in the 20-21 academic year followed by the adoption of Canvas in 2021-22 by the majority of our faculty, ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ is transitioning to Canvas as its new Learning Management System (LMS). Today, more than 77 percent of ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ LMS courses are being taught in Canvas. A big thank you to the faculty who have already made the transition and the staff who supported the faculty to make the switch.

Launch of ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ Native Claims Settlement Act Project Jukebox

In recognition of the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) in December 1971, the ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ Oral History Program has just launched the Project Jukebox online interactive website that combines oral history recordings, film, photos and documents to tell the story behind the fight for passage of ANCSA, its role in ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ's history, and its legacy.

Are you gearing up for social reading as daylight grows shorter? ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ's book clubs invite faculty, instructors and staff to connect through reading and dialogue. Fall reading lists have been announced by the Indigenous Authors and Innovations in Learning book clubs. The ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ Faculty Accelerator will purchase digital or physical books for club members.

FY24 appropriations request submission form

We have begun to plan for the FY24 federal funding appropriations request. ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ is requiring that all individuals interested in submitting an appropriations request to the Congressional delegation complete an initial request through the linked Google form.

Convocation scavenger hunt details

The details for the scavenger hunt are here! The game will open at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 19 and will close on Monday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. To be eligible for the prizes all missions in the scavenger hunt have to be completed, and the participant has to be present at Convocation to win.

It is awesome to have our Troth Yeddha' campus vibrant with students once again. It is energizing to walk around and see students dining in the Wood Center, walking across Constitution Park between classes, and taking the hike up to or down from MBS. I hear faculty and staff still remarking on this daily and we are three weeks into the semester. The positive energy doesn't seem to be wearing off; it continues to be contagious and rejuvenating!

Kristin O'Brien, professor in the Institute of Arctic Biology and Department of Biology and Wildlife, has been invited to serve on the Advisory Committee (AC) for Polar Programs at the NSF. The next meeting of the AC will be held virtually via Zoom on Sept. 15-16 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and polar researchers are welcome and encouraged to attend but will need to register in advance.

NDAs, also referred to as confidential disclosure agreements and proprietary information agreements, are handled by staff at ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ’s Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization and Office of Grants and Contracts Administration.

Friday Focus: Intergenerational learning
